Candidates

Rawleka Wilson and Sharvari Patil (she/her)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Rawleka: Having been UCL Hall Rep & POC Officer 2023-24, I bring a whirlwind of energy, creativity & a fierce dedication to amplifying POC voices! Building upon the successes of my 2 years in the SU, I will work tirelessly to create fun events & promote zero tolerance for discrimination.

Sharvari: Leveraging my experience as president of BAME in PALS Soc, I will bring previous events such as regular self-care nights (free pizza & hot chocolate!) and cocktail-making nights to a larger scale. As a driven campaigner for ActionAid, I know how to push boundaries and create impactful results.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

We'll expand our repertoire of events to encompass cultural celebrations, educational workshops, and networking opportunities.

Ideas:

  • Intersociety collaborations - charity danceathons, dumpling & samosa making nights, food festivals
  • Celebrating student artists - poetry, spoken word & open mic nights
  • Monthly drop-in sessions - to express your concerns (with free food!)

We plan to:

  • Decolonise the curriculum - workshops to challenge stereotypes
  • Develop a zero-tolerance policy for racism
  • Destigmatise mental health - ensure that every student has access to the support they need to thrive
Please summarise why students should vote for you.

PICTURE THIS: a vibrant campus filled with the rhythm of diversity & inclusion, where every voice is not just heard but celebrated! With Rawleka as POC Officer 2023-24 (from Montserrat), and Sharvari as BAME in PALS Soc President (from India), we'll make it happen!

OUR MISSION IS CLEAR: to build a strong UCL identity within the POC community and keep the SU accountable. We'll ramp up our event calendar with fun events with POC professionals & artists and collaborative ventures with cultural societies. We are not just thinking outside the box – we're redefining it.

VOTE RAWLEKA AND SHARVARI! :)
