What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?
Different experiences have shaped my motivation to work as your Sustainability Officer. Last summer, I authored 3 reform bills on Environmental Law to address the climate crisis in my home state.
Moreover, after working at the Climate Action Society, I now have a better grasp on how UCL operates and where we must focus our sustainability efforts. I aim to use these same skills to bring about structural change to UCL.
Whether elected or not, I sincerely offer my commitment to achieving the goals described below at our university.
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?
Finance
- Switch from Barclays banking account
- Ensure no more investments are made to firms that are linked with the fossil industry
Sustainability Plan
- Ensure student flights and scope 3 are included in UCL’s carbon-zero strategy
- Create more green spaces for students on campus
Education
- Work on the implementation of the students sustainability training programme
- Implement a “Fossil Free Careers” policy
Food
- Work with UCL NUS delegates to bring forward the Plant Based Uni’s campaign
Student Groups
- Introduce a Sustainability Officer position within student groups

I’ll be honest. Whether I get elected or not, I will continue to work on the objectives described above at the Climate Action Society.
So why should you vote for me then? Well, I believe that working in the Student Union will be incredibly useful to better influence UCL’s decision-making process when discussing finance, food, education, and energy strategies.
If elected as your Sustainability Officer, I will continuously work to mobilise our students' political voice and bring forward a more sustainable agenda to our UCL community.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?
- Winning the Best Team Solution for 2024 Design Week for creating a prototype for the sustainable start-up Catalysis, I had insight into running a sustainable business and problem-solving. This equipped me with skills to collaborate with environmental start-ups as the Sustainability Officer and organize similar activities.
- As Head of Marketing of UCL Women in Finance Society, being a part of this empowering society along with the Turkish Society I honed my organization and collaboration skills and would love to help explore and extend sustainability to different societies.
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?
- Promote The SoM Sustainability Lab to all students. The Lab works with various industry partners to support student projects which can be beneficial to all students at UCL.
- Ensure students are aware of sustainable career options and start-ups, such as fossil-free careers.
- Organize social hackathons with ESG consultants.
- Support ESG societies that work on sustainability projects.
- Integrate sustainable projects/courses as part of our degree programs. This will allow students to practice and discover sustainability through projects collaborated with different industry partners.

I am dedicated to fostering a sustainable culture at UCL.
Engaging in various sustainability projects since high school, I am well-prepared for this role. As much as I want UCL to become a more sustainable space, I want students to be highly engaged in environmental causes too. Having served in different societies, I see the emerging challenges related to sustainability in different fields. I would therefore love to collaborate with other societies to tangle these challenges. As an open-minded individual, I embrace the responsibility I will be taking. Together we can create a greener future!

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?
I am 2nd year Environmental Geoscience student who is passionate about reducing carbon footprint in UCL. I have experience volunteering for the Reewild app to reduce carbon footprint in the refectory. This enabled me to foster persuasive skills to encourage people to be more sustainable.
Additonally, I have acquired research experience related to ESG through Sustainability Summer Bootcamp. This enabled me to give passionate advice on how to reduce carbon footprint in corporations through sustainable transition. I can use my knowledge to organise workshops related to corporate sustainability.
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?
Firstly, I want to gather ideas on how to better reduce the carbon footprint at UCL and persuade stakeholders to implement those ideas to achieve net zero by 2030 to meet the UCL target. I believe many people are concerned about the climate crisis and are willing to contribute to making UCL more eco-friendly. I will consolidate those ideas and implement a new plan to promote sustainability at UCL
Secondly, I want to organise meetings to discuss enhancing corporate sustainability based on my knowledge acquired at Voiz Academy to raise awareness about the importance of corporate sustainability.

Firstly, I have a strong passion for sustainability. I have always been concerned about global warming. I believe it is important for big organisations like UCL to be sustainable to make a positive impact on sustainability. I also believe sustainability on campus can enhance students' satisfaction levels in uni life.
Secondly, I am open-minded and willing to listen to people without bias. This will enable me to listen attentively to suggestions to make UCL more eco-friendly. I believe that no one is perfect and we can all grow by giving and receiving feedback so I'm in all ears!

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?
My Computational Neurosciences postgrad involves integrating knowledge from various fields like bio-physics, computer science & maths while fostering creative thinking. This interdisciplinary approach is key for addressing sustainability challenges with innovative, data-driven solutions. In my undergrad, I committed to organising environmentally conscious events at the Psychology and TEDx societies by minimising waste & carbon foot-print, and securing earth-friendly sponsors. I am excited to navigate the complexities of sustainability initiatives and tackle challenges from multiple angles.
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?
I aim to promote sustainability through three key areas that address UCL's current sustainability challenges:
Ethical Investments: for UCL to cease investment in fossil fuels and prioritise renewable energy, green infrastructure and socially responsible companies.
Fossil free Careers: for career opportunities (networking and recruitment) with professionals contributing to a low-carbon economy and away from oil, gas and mining companies.
Energy Sources and Carbon Reduction: to foster UCL's carbon footprint reduction, transition to green energy sources, and behaviour change initiatives.

I offer a blend of technical expertise and a passion for sustainability. I hope to bring a fresh perspective with the analytical skills needed to identify and address green challenges. My previous involvement in student organizations has honed my organizational and leadership skills, making me well-prepared to coordinate and manage UCL sustainability initiatives. I am dedicated to promoting awareness of environmental priorities and implementing practical, impactful solutions. I believe in the power of collaboration and will work to engage students, faculty, and local businesses in our efforts.

As Lead Academic Rep for two consecutive years, I honed my ability to prioritise student concerns & address them to staff in a professional and persuasive manner.
• As President of UCL's Arab and North African Society, the largest in the UK, my ability to inclusively cater to needs of a wide audience highlighted my leadership and community engagement
• Leading the PharmAlliance International Case Competition Team enabled me to develop networks with universities like Monash and UNC. Collaborating on global sustainability issues fueled my passion for finding and implementing innovative solutions
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?
- Working with education officers to integrate sustainability in academic modules. This allows our students to be better prepared to address global challenges and become leaders who prioritise sustainability in their decision-making
- Carbon footprint: Ensuring all Union café products are sourced from ethical, sustainable companies
- Collaborating with the volunteering department to host social hackathons with ESG-focused companies. Providing a collaborative platform for participants to develop innovative solutions and technologies that promote environmental/social/governance principles

Over the years, my exposure to UCL's community has always made me aware of the sheer amount of intricate and crucial changes students want addressed by a strong voice. I, therefore, am confident that I will be that voice for each and every student
